About the Artist

Here is a little bit about me. No formal education in art.  No awards. Nor do I belong to any fancy associations. I simply love art, both viewing others' creations and making and sharing mine...

Born in a small town in Montana, I had an interest in art at a young age. We never had a lot of money, but my mother always managed to supply me with art supplies. I recall as early as kindergarten, saying, "I want to be an artist when I grow up." Nearly every book I checked out at the library was a "How to draw..." book. In 3rd grade, we moved to Roseville, CA. Here, they had a wonderful Art Appreciation program, where a teacher came in weekly to show us famous artwork. I started to love the art that I saw! In high school, I had a special teacher who focused her attention on my artwork. After high school, having no higher education in art, I continued to practice, spending hours a day on very detailed black-and-white pencil drawings.

In Brookings, OR. I finally started a small business selling my art. I had the privilege of illustrating a book (A Garden For Allegra, by Rebecca Rose) for a dear friend who is an author as one of my first projects. I also learned much from a friend/mentor who showed me how to start a business as a young adult. I greatly appreciated all the time she spent helping me.

After a couple of years, along came marriage and children. This was a wonderful distraction for many years. It took most of my focus away for some time. I did paint a few murals and art for friends, but nothing professionally.

Now that my children are mostly raised, I've picked up art again. In 2022, I started oil painting, which I love! I enjoy landscape art, inspired by impressionist artists. I've done a couple of still-life paintings. But my favorite subject has always been portraits. I love watching a person on canvas come to life.

I'm happy to now be in the position to share my art with you! Thank you for visiting my website.
